Title: Conclusion of a strategic partnership with Polski Krzem P.S.A. and the National Institute of Telecommunications (IL-PIB) to develop and commercialize a Polish microcontroller
Report content: The Management Board of Phoenix Systems S.A. based in Warsaw (the „Company”, the „Issuer”) hereby announces the conclusion of a trilateral strategic partnership with Polski Krzem P.S.A. and the National Institute of Telecommunications – National Research Institute (IL-PIB). The goal of the initiative is the joint development and market introduction of a fully sovereign Polish microcontroller integrated with the Issuer’s proprietary operating system, Phoenix-RTOS.
The joint solution is ultimately intended to constitute a highly secure and interference-resistant technological foundation for advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/drones), supporting the national defense sector and the protection of critical infrastructure.
As part of the established cooperation, the following division of competencies has been agreed upon:
- Polski Krzem P.S.A. is responsible for designing the integrated circuit and the physical architecture of the modern microcontroller (hardware layer).
- Phoenix Systems S.A. (the Issuer) will provide the base software in the form of a real-time operating system (Phoenix-RTOS). The Company’s task is the deep optimization of the system and its direct integration with the silicon layer, which will allow, among other things, for the secure, software-based separation of critical drone applications within a microkernel architecture.
- The National Institute of Telecommunications (IL-PIB) is responsible for developing the security and system resilience requirements, as well as preparing the platform for future European regulatory and certification processes.
In the opinion of the Issuer’s Management Board, establishing this cooperation represents a significant step in the implementation of the Company’s development strategy in the Defence and Edge-IoT segments for the following reasons:
- Fulfillment of „local content” requirements: Having full control over the hardware architecture and source code (eliminating so-called backdoors) is a key condition for participating in multi-billion tenders for the modern defense sector.
- Compliance with European regulations: The project aligns with the prevailing trend and EU directives (including the European Chips Act) aimed at making European electronics independent of supply chains from Asian and American markets.
- New commercialization opportunities: The integration of the Phoenix-RTOS system with dedicated hardware will facilitate the miniaturization of flying platforms, opening up new business opportunities for the Issuer in the growing segment of intelligent drone swarms.
Developing a technologically sovereign ecosystem constitutes an expansion of the Company’s existing competencies and is consistent with its long-term business goals of providing secure solutions for critical infrastructure. The Issuer will inform about further significant stages of the project’s implementation in separate current reports.
