Phoenix Systems at the fair in Kielce

From September 3 to September 6, 2024, Targi Kielce transformed into the International Defence Industry Exhibition, where, of course, we were present. In collaboration with Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, we had the opportunity to showcase Phoenix-RTOS, a Polish, open-source, scalable, UN*X-compliant real-time operating system based on a microkernel architecture, running on the GR712RC processor, which is on board the JUICE mission, part of the European Space Agency’s Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 program, aimed at studying Jupiter and its icy moons: Ganymede, Europa, and Callisto, including the investigation of suspected subsurface oceans on these moons.

Our operating system has been ported to the computer identical with the SWI research instrument developed by the Space Research Centre (CBK PAN). The computer is based on the RAD-hard Gaisler GR712RC SoC devoted for space applications equipped with two LEON3FT processing cores. Phoenix-RTOS supports SoC hardware e.g. SpaceWire interface.
